Film aspects.

How does tone work in film?
The tone in the film is the way to make the audience feel when scenes and shots don’t fit in the rest of the film, it tends to be unpleasant for the audience and take them out of it, it’s the vibe, the personality of the piece as a whole of a particular scene.

How does over-the-shoulder shot work?
The back of the shoulder and head of this person is used to frame the image of whatever or whoever the camera is pointing towards, this shot is common when two people are having a conversation.

How does film blocking work in a film?
Blocking the scene is working out the details of the actors moves in relation to the camera, it’s a key element in directing a scene, it’s important because it doesn’t just make the film feel more natural but it also directs the audience attention.

How is contrast used in a film?
Contrast is simply difference, contrast usually refers to tone, and tone means the brightness of objects, without contrast there is no image, so without contrast, there is no image meaning there is no film.

How is the dutch angle used?
The dutch angle is a technique that involves tilting your camera to one side, making the frame not leveled, it’s mainly used to make a dramatic effect and helps portrays unease, disorientation, frantic, or desperate action, intoxication, madness and etc.

How do visual motifs work in film?
A motif in a film can be presented in many ways such as physical items, sound design, lines of dialogue, music, colours, events, and symbols. Visual motifs in film use recurring patterns through props, ser designs, costumes, symbols, and events to support the intended theme of the story.

How does a POV or POT shot work?
A POV (point of view) shot is an angle that shows what the character is looking at, they allow the director to shed light on a new perspective or highlight the important emotions of the world.

How does the insert shot work in a film?
An insert shot is a shot filmed from a different angle and/or focal length from the master shot ( a master shot is when it’s recording the whole scene in one shot from start to finish) inserts cover action already covered in the master shot, but emphasize a different aspect of the action due to different framing, it is used to focus the viewer's attention to a specific detail within a scene. 

How does production design work in a film.
Production designers are responsible for the visual concept of a film, television or theatre production. They identify a design style for sets, locations, graphics, props, lighting, camera angles and costumes while working closely with the director and producer.

How does color work in a film?
Colour is important when it comes to films, it can build harmony or tension within a film, bring attention to a key theme, draws focus to significant details, sets the tone to the movie, can represent character traits, can show changes in the movies (flashback/present) and many more, without color in films you wouldn’t get that emotion and story the director is trying to give you and it wouldn’t make it as touching.

How do establish shots work in film? 
An establishing shot sets the scene, it’s designed to give the audience information where the action will be taking place, an establishing shot is a shot taken from very far away to show the setting of the scene.

What is film theory?
 film theory is a way to think about the elements of the film. Most of the time, it also looks at how film affects/is affected by the individual viewer as well as society as a whole.

What is film criticism?
Film criticism is the analysis and evaluation of films and the film medium. The concept is often used interchangeably with that of film reviews. Film criticism is not only meant to help shape how we view films, but also meant to help shape the film industry as a whole.directors and actors can relish in their technical successes and learn from harsh reviews.

What is the auteur theory?

 Auteur theory of filmmaking in which the director is viewed as the major creative force in a motion picture

Home ec

In Class yesterday we did a practical and we made chop suey, we had to wash our hands in hot soapy water to get rid of any germs or dirt, we had to make sure the table was wiped with hot water and an antibacterial spray made sure all bowls, chopping boards (red for red meat and green for vegetable, same with the knives), and cutlery was clean to make sure the chance of contamination is very low, we made sure the meat was handled carefully and cooked throughout, we had to defrost it first and then cut it into strips on a clean chopping board and knife then added it into the pan, the vermeil was handled with clean tongs and put into warm water to cook, we collected the peas and soy sauce into small bowls to add later, we eventually added the vegetables, vermicelli, soy sauce into the pan with the meat to cook throughout, I know my food is safe because everything was handled carefully and everything was clean after the food was cooked we served it into clean bowls using tongs then cleaned all the equipment with hot soapy water and the dried and put back away in the proper place, we wiped down the tables with hot water and antibacterial spray and made sure there was no moustiure in the sink and equipment, I know my meat was cooked upto 75 degrees which kill bacteria so it doesn't have envioment to reproduce.
