Anne Frank

Questions to answer when viewing/reading texts:

  1. How does viewing this text through a child’s perspective change the way we experience it? Explain using an example from the text.

  • They don’t have proper opinions yet so they don’t really understand, it makes you feel for Anne, the over world view is changed by small things that happen, children's minds are changed super easy compared to adults, expect from Anne’s she had many things to say and opinions, this comes back to being how she's brought up.

  1. How would this text be different if it were told from the perspective of an adult? How would the audience’s experience be different?

  • Adults have very strong opinions and have already a strong set of minds so they wouldn’t be so open-minded yet they are much more mature to understand but more stressed.

They have more knowledge that is going on, we get to see more awareness on what’s going on and need for survival from them.

From an adult's perspective might be more sorrowful, hopeless, so when we hear it from a hopeful perspective like a children's perspective it makes us want to keep going and we get hope from them.

  1. Why did the filmmaker or author decide to tell this story from a child’s perspective?

  • Since Anne wrote it from her point of view it is easier for the director to make it into a play, it makes the story more understanding to the viewers from a child's point of view, you get to see how children react to seeing the dark sides of the war.

  • Children are open-minded and therefore can change the future for the better, so it makes the story more optimistic.

  1. How are children represented in the text? How are adults represented in the text?

  •  Children are curious, naive, gullible, and loud.

  • Adults are somewhat educated, selfish, thieves, and more serious.

5. Does imagination help the young hero to cope? How so? Provide an example.

Yes it does, it helps with everything, Anne says she felt down she would imagine herself being with her friends and riding her bikes so it would put her in a good state of mind and make her feel better, in the diary, she writes to a fictional character to keep her mind off things.

Does this text connect in any other way to the other texts you have read/viewed Anne frank? How so? Provide evidence and explain.

  • Yes because it is shown in a children's perspective and it contrasts because of the different perspectives, Navis vs Jews. It both demonstrates the character's naivety.

They both show the loss of innocence from war but started off innocence but creativity and naivety, the characteristics that both Jojo and Anne show.

Jojo Rabbit - questions

Jojo Rabbit directed by Taika Waititi.

Questions to answer when viewing/reading texts:
  1. How does viewing this text through a child’s perspective change the way we experience it? Explain using an example from the text.
  • We get to see the way they see it, the different emotions they feel and, the way they react - it makes us feel more sympathy as it’s also just a child. The world looks much bigger and scary for a child - they don’t know how to deal with things as well as adults can which can make them confused and scared.

  1. How would this text be different if it were told from the perspective of an adult? How would the audience’s experience be different?
  • The perspective could be completely different as they would be older and more mature, knowing how to deal with it more and understand, it could also be such a different experience for them compared to a child.

  1. Why did the filmmaker or author decide to tell this story from a child’s perspective?
  • We get to see there true emotions and the way they see it, making it more understanding of our age group.

  1. How are children represented in the text? How are adults represented in the text?
  • Children don’t expect everything that happens, they aren’t treated the same way as adults - they are used as a way to show that all ages have to go through war and terror.
It makes the world look like a much bigger and scarier place when it’s through a child’s eyes as they are much smaller and not as educated on what’s happening.

  1. Does imagination help the young hero to cope? How so? Provide an example.
  • Imagination helps everyone to cope, even though its a false reality it gives them a sense of hope that life can be what they want it to, it helps them detach themselves for reality and explore whatever they want to, whatever makes them feel most at ease.

  1. Does this text connect in any other way to the other texts you have read/viewed? How so? Provide evidence and explain.

  • Most movies/books are similar when it comes to the stereotype as gender, race, and age - most of the time that is the main problem of the show.

Cooking methods

Choosing the right cooking method is relevant to try to reduce fat, sugar, and salt.
Baking is good because you don't have to cook it in any fats but the goods your baking normally contains lots of sugar and fat that's why it's good to try to find lower fat and sugar options to use instead.
There are many ways to cook your food and the healthiest way would best steaming as it uses no fats but just vapour from boiling water yet you can only cook vegetables and similar foods but not meat compared to steaming when you use oil or fat to cook it in, a good way to cook meats with using no fats or oil would be roasting as no oil is needed and it is cooked in the oven and it's a quick method as heat is direct.

In Class yesterday we did a practical and we made chop suey, we had to wash our hands in hot soapy water to get rid of any germs or dirt, we had to make sure the table was wiped with hot water and an antibacterial spray made sure all bowls, chopping boards (red for red meat and green for vegetable, same with the knives), and cutlery was clean to make sure the chance of contamination is very low, we made sure the meat was handled carefully and cooked throughout, we had to defrost it first and then cut it into strips on a clean chopping board and knife then added it into the pan, the vermeil was handled with clean tongs and put into warm water to cook, we collected the peas and soy sauce into small bowls to add later, we eventually added the vegetables, vermicelli, soy sauce into the pan with the meat to cook throughout, I know my food is safe because everything was handled carefully and everything was clean after the food was cooked we served it into clean bowls using tongs then cleaned all the equipment with hot soapy water and the dried and put back away in the proper place, we wiped down the tables with hot water and antibacterial spray and made sure there was no moustiure in the sink and equipment, I know my meat was cooked upto 75 degrees which kill bacteria so it doesn't have envioment to reproduce.

English - creative writing

Nottinghamshire, England
Sons and Lovers by D.H. Lawrence
*From the book* She looked at her roses. They were white, some incurved and holy, others expanded in an ecstasy. The tree was dark as a shadow. She lifted her hand impulsively to the flowers; she went forward and touched them in worship,
*Extention*
as she lightly hovered her hands over them they whispered back to her, she tore them away from home they wept, the sky threw paint over the clouds as the sun began to hibernate for the glowing night, the wind whistled to the roses as they murmured back in my delicate hand, she stood there in awe-

L1 Wraps

Yesterday we made Wraps, Prior to the activity, I made sure to put a clean apron on and to wash my hands by doing this I know the bacteria is not on my hands as the soap and hot water killed it, Since we were using ham and mayo those are high risks food, we handled the ham with tongs and put it on a clean chopping board and slightly chopped it up a bit and put it aside in a clean bowl, mayo is also a high-risk food so we brought it out at the end and put it in a small glass bowl and used a spoon to spread it on the wrap.
Before we brought the food out we made sure the table was clean and all the bowls were clean after we gathered the food we made sure to wash all the vegetables to make sure they were clean before we put them on a clean chopping board to chop, by doing this I know my food was safe because everything was clean and used correctly.
