How do volcanoes form?
They are formed when magma within the earth upper mantle works its way to the surface, at the surface, it erupts to form lava and flows and ash deposits over time as the volcano continues to erupt, it will get bigger and bigger
mount etna - is the second-largest volcano in Europe, but the largest active volcano in Europe, The volcano Mount Etna sits on the east coast of the island of Sicily, Italy and is currently standing at 3,329 meters.
When did it last erupt?
Mount Etna's most severe recent eruption was on March 16, 2017, when ten people from the BBC crew were injured. A further eruption in August 2018 sent plumes of ash and lava spewing in the air but no evacuations or injuries were reported.
Damage
 March 16, 2017 eruption caused 10 people injured but overall mount etna has caused a 4.3 and 4.8-magnitude earthquakes that injured 28 people and left 600 homeless, the earthquakes have caused many houses to fall down leaving people homeless.

What will happen if Mount Etna Falls?
About a million people live on Etna's slopes, and millions more reside on the coastlines across the Ionian sea. If part of the volcano near the shoreline becomes unstable and falls into the water, it could create mega-tsunamis that would ruin the shores of the eastern Mediterranean

Facts

Mount Etna is so active because it is sitting on a fault, the African tectonic plate is being pushed under the Eurasian plate and Mount Etna sits on top.
