Social Studies

Excited for my new adventure as I look into my mirror, my strands of my brown long hair sits on my face as I gently push it behind my heart, my hazel eyes twinkle in the dull lighting, my pale skin shows goosebumps as a cold smelly draft wafts around my cramped apartment.

Today is the day I decide to leave my family behind as they have decided to stay and live a wealthy life in England while people suffer with no job or house, I want New Zealand to be a new hope for everyone since it is mine, I want a good life in a better and cleaner environment with enough jobs and houses for everyone.

The ship sets sail to New Zealand today, I grab my backpack filled with all my treasures and living items - the rest of my furniture and unused clothes were sold so I could have some money when I arrive to New Zealand.

Scared yet intrigued to leave my so called ‘home’ and start my new life with a new beginning, my dad booked me a horse and carriage as a goodbye gift and some extra money yet he couldn't make the time to say bye..

Locking my front door I look outside and the horse is there waiting  for me as I board the carriage on my way to the ship.
I arrive to the ship, there are so many people, the smell was horrible, I grab my stuff and throw my backpack on my shoulder as I make my way to go wait in line. Tiredly waiting in line I finally get to the front and keep following everyone to find out where i'll be staying for the next while.

My room, well my shared room with seven other people, our beds were a slab of wood with no bedding and no space to move around…

Deciding to go look around, I step outside my small shared shivering room, you could see the never-ending blue sea as the ship started to move - I looked out, I could see the families waving and most crying because they know theres a chance they wont see their families or friends ever again..

Four months passed and each day feels the same - we wake up, go have a wash, wait in line for breakfast, have breakfast then a few hours later we have lunch and after that we do the same for dinner, in my spare time I like to go look outside and daydream about how New Zealand will look like or play card games and I like to write a lot because that's the main thing that keeps me sane since I try keep myself away from everyone due to all of the diseases that spreads but it's not easy to try isolate myself..

Slowly the months passed and finally we start to arrive, the sound of everyone shouting we finally arrive to this beautiful country named New Zealand, there was so many trees, nature was everywhere.

I was confused, I have no idea where i'm supposed to go, I was so happy to finally get off that ship but now I feel lost yet it already feels like i'm supposed to be here, i just have to find out where I belong and what's my purpose on my life here in New Zealand.
